On August 23, the 11th National Conference of Chinese Dental Technologist Association, hosted by the Professional Committee of Prosthodontics of the Chinese Stomatological Association and undertaken by the Affiliated Stomatological Hospital of Medical School of Nanjing University, was held in Nanjing. With the theme of “Diversified Development and Digital Prospect of Prosthodontics”, the conference gathered industry academics, experts, professors, and business representatives to share and discuss the application of advanced technologies and development of professional technologies, so as to promote the intelligent and digital transformation of the dental industry.
Chamlion CEO Zhitao Wang was invited to attend and give a keynote speech. He said that at present, dental laboratories are mostly independent and small-scale, and the market is extremely fragmented, which highly restricts the development of the industry. As a technology company, Chamlion hopes to promote industry integration and drive the intensive development of dentistry through technology. Zhitao Wang analyzed the global denture market structure and the development trend of the division of labor. Denture processing has changed from operation in hospitals to dental laboratories. In the future, there will be large-scale digital factories with a fine division of labor. Chamlion will drive the development of hardware through the R&D and innovation of materials and software, and finally realize the digital manufacturing of the entire dentistry chain, empower denture processing, and build an ecological partnership system with global dental labs to jointly promote industry integration and digital development.
Nowadays, “digitization” has become a core keyword for the development of dentistry, and 3D printing, as typical digital manufacturing technology, can connect all aspects of the dental industry chain such as design and manufacturing through “data”. It can be said that 3D printing is an inevitable choice to realize the digital transformation of oral dentistry.
Dr. Li, head of Chamlion Technology Department, delivered a speech entitled “Exploration and Practice of Application of 3D Printing Technology in Prosthodontics”. Compared with traditional denture production, the 3D printing process replaces many operations that require a lot of labor and cause serious environmental pollution. Titanium is an excellent material for denture manufacturing due to its low density, lightweight, good elasticity, low thermal conductivity, and good biocompatibility. Chamlion has developed a series of products such as intelligent design software,Titanium 3D printers, post-processing equipment, etc., which have opened up the entire process of digital manufacturing of Titanium partials.
At present, Chamlion has established more than 200 printing centers around the world, providing large-scale manufacturing capabilities for global dental labs. In order to better manage the production scheduling of global dental printing centers, Chamlion has developed a globally unified cloud order platform – Chamlion Cloud. Any dental lab in the world can upload data to Chamlion Cloud, and easily place an order. The subsequent operations such as CAD design, printing, and manufacturing will be automatically completed. It is estimated that by the end of 2022, the number of cloud printing centers in the world will exceed 260, providing high-quality denture products for 30 million users around the world.
